This is a moderately easy little toy to build and children love it. A fairly young child can reassemble it. It should be built
of hardwood so it is not so easy to split.     Dowel pins can be used to prevent wood from splitting.     This is walnut.
I have had no trouble with cherry, walnut, or maple woods splitting.
