Windows 95 Typing Tutor by Bob Harrell If you have limited computer knowledge print this, study it, and keep it at hand. WIN95TU.ZIP is a Windows 95 typing tutor built for single-handed typist. It is great for all! It is free! It is written in Visual Basic. This means that certain files must be in place on your computer. ______________________________________________________ A few facts: 1-WIN95TU.ZIP is 1.36 MB so it will fit on a 1.44 floppy. 2-The Setup is by MicroSoft Visual Basic Setup Wizard. 3-Files needed to run a VB program are installed only if not present. You need these in place. 4-I have tested the procedures described here on my own computer and they work fine. 5-An uninstall is included. (My Computer, control panel, then add/delete) 6-I have installed and uninstalled several times. I have emailed to myself, downloaded, extracted, installed, and uninstalled without problems. ______________________________________________________ Included here is a setup file. It installs the needed files. Download the zip to A: or a temporary directory. Unzip and run the setup file. Best to run the setup from "My Computer", "control panel", and "ADD/DELETE". The tutor MUST be installed in a directory along with the lesson files. Even if you put it on a floppy it must have a directory (folder). The program uses a function that gets the "current directory". If the program is installed without a directory errors are generated. I have mine on D:\tutor but any name will do of course. This zip will just fit on a floppy in a: drive. It can not be unzipped to the same a: as there will not be room. This tutor uses text files for lessons. The files must have a txt entention. When you view files to load only files with that extention will display. The files from previous tutors work fine if renamed to add .txt to them. You can download lessons.zip at this site. These are made for single-handed typist. They start with the home keys for rh and lh Dvorak keyboard layouts. Keys are added two at a time until all keys are memorized. You may make your own lessons. If there is no text file in the directory (folder?) with win95tu.exe an error will be generated. The tutor will load any file with the extention .txt, even the license agreement! Make files that have content that pleases you. Simple words for the young or spelling word are suggested. When the single-handed user learns the keys they should then use the same exercises as other students. The only difference is that the keys are in a different location for the single-handed user. ______________________________________________ STEP BY STEP PROCEDURES FOR NON COMPUTER GEEKS 1.
