THE TUTOR PROGRAM LESSONS

After each group of new letters is presented, you will find hard copies of the lessons that are provided. This lets you know what lessons are here for you to use. It also provides lessons for you to use for practice. You should start with the typing TUTOR program and advance to using these hard copies for practice. You will find on the disk, a program called simply "T". It is a very simple program that I wrote to allow you to type while you are timed by the clock in your computer. You may use these hard copies or text of your own liking for practice. use material similar to that you use in your special field of interest. The only purpose of "T" is to relieve you of the task of timing your own speed with a watch. If you type T and hit enter at the DOS prompt this program will run.

You will also want to use your word processor or text editor for practice. Practice, practice, practice, and then practice!!

The ability to touch type has greatly enhanced my life. I have many skills. Touch typing would be one of the last that I would be willing to give up. I hope you will feel the same way!!

TIPS... You can use stickey paper with new letters on the keycaps while you learn. Some caps can be moved around. Everyone should own an IBM "Easy Options" Keyboard. Mine says part number 60G3571. They are less than $100 new. The same type has been used for ages. I saw a stack at the computer show for $5 each. How many kids are trying to learn to type on a keyboard that an experienced typist would have trouble with? Be "keyboard aware". I use standard cap placement so as not to disturb the uneducated. I don't look at the keyboard anyway!
