Is That All There Is To It?

What I have presented here is pretty simple and short. There must be more to "speed reading". Yes, there if much more. If you wish you can find lots of information on the web. You can buy loads of books and spend much money on programs and tapes. Like most things in life, if there is a buck to be made someone will try it. I am sure some of the books, programs, tapes, and etc....... are worth while. There are many sites on the web with free information. I found pages on college web sites. If you are so inclined I urge you to learn more.

I have presented what I found to be the sum of what I learned. There is nothing here that is difficult in anyway. Almost no EXTRA time is demanded. It is a better way of doing what you are already doing. If you use this information your reading will improve. If you do it over a long period of time you will be amazed!

1. First be sure you are not held back and slowed down by "mouthing".

2. Discover and exercise your peripheral vision until it is more developed.

3. Practice reading groups of words. Increase the text taken at one glance.

4. Make this a part of your everyday procedures. Review and practice these ideas.

When I am doing other things and do not read a lot my speed drops. I can not take in much text at a time. When I get back to reading I find my reading speed increases at once. That is only natural. Practice!
