I use the Gepe 10 inch shutter release. You may like the 12 inch release. I think the way a person is built may call for a different length release. You must be very careful not to use a release that gets in the way of the bow string when it is released. Only then will you appreciate the violence of a compound bow string on release. I did that once. I am still picking up pieces in the yard. The 10 inch release shown here seems right for me. I have had no problems with the string hitting it. When that happened I was playing with a long release cable.
I have had other makes of shutter releases. Some worked fine. Most sold locally have very heavy plastic around them. Not too good! A little flexibility seems desirable. I have found out where to order Gepe and they seem just right. I bought several. You may find something better.
The release has a little screw in the side that was put there to allow you to lock a camera shutter open for very long exposures. I remove that screw and discard it.
